Ed Fella
Fella is an American graphic designer, born in 1938. Born in Detroit, he learned about commercial art in high school. He then went onto receive his Master of Fine Arts in design at Cranbrook Academy of Art, which he started when he was 47 after quitting his commercial job to create art of his own.
Since then, he has devoted his teaching and his own, unique, self-published work which has appeared in many designs periodicals and anthologies. In his spare time he has been devoted to his own personal experimentation, which for the most part he self-publishes. In 1997 he received the Chrysler award and in 1999 and honorary decorate from CCS in Detroit. His work is in the national design museum and MOMA in New York. His work has had and important influence on contemporary typography. Today, he teaches as the California Institute for the Arts.
